I usually travel in a car when I take trips to be safe, but this trip I was taking I needed cheap driving lessons. It was a motorbike trip so I had to cheap driving lessons before then. Searched around town for a couple cheap driving lessons and to no avail. I called some of the people I know that were going on the trip and asked them if they knew any cheap driving lessons place for motorbike. They did and I got my bike license in no time.

On August 9th, after 49 days and 3,600 miles on the bikes, we rode into Yorktown, Virginia. It was actually a fairly emotional day for both my wife and I. After all the work that had gone into this TransAm- we were done. It was thrilling and depressing at the same time. The next day was going to just be a normal day, of sorts. We were still on holiday and had lots of great stuff to see and do, but we had crossed the line from unique adventurers to plain old vacationers. I suffered a little bit of post-rideum depression, but couldn't wallow in it too much because my wife and kids kept me too busy with all the stuff we had to do.

It took us another 15 days to get home and we saw some great stuff along the way: DC, NY, Gettysburg, a Cubs game, Wicked, and more. It was absolutely the best summer our family has ever experienced. I will leave most of the original stuff from the web page below, but also wanted to update the front page to indicate that the adventure had happened.

So what now? We are back in Spokane doing our "normal" thing. Teri is teaching full-time at Northwest Christian, Don continues to teach and coach (v-ball and tennis) at Mead. We are also running a home-business calledShape N Race. We make, market, and distribute pinewood derby cars, mostly to schools and churches across the country. Don makes the sawdust and Teri pretty much does the rest.

Thanks to all of you who followed along our journey. It was the best. We are thinking Australia in 2009-2010 for the Best Job in the World, and then Europe by bike the next year? But we are also thinking of teaching in Puerto Vallarta in 2011-2012. Who knows? The world is our oyster and we like to ride roller coasters much better than merry go rounds.
