I have noticed in many advertisements that there aren't many female driving instructors and that lessons don't come cheap. I needed a career change, and I have been wanting to become my own boss. Maybe becoming a driving instructor will be the best career change anyone can ask for. I mean, think about it, I can be my own boss, work the hours I want, charge a decent price for lessons and all I need to do is travel to each learners home to start their lesson.

I searched on the Internet to find training for driving instructors and found a centre near home, which wasn't far to travel to. I registered to start immediately.

The course wasn't to hard, it covered everything, from hazard and perception to highway code. And to teaching techniques. The centre was brilliant, they had reference books, online resources, mock examinations and tutor support are provided through your classroom sessions or in-car practical sessions. They even explained how to manage each lesson, giving enough time to travel to your next learner. They also taught the basics of book keeping, which helps you keep note of all in-coming and out-going payments.

I also searched for information on cheap motor insurance for driving instructors and they didn't come cheap but quite understandably, as you will need cover from all angles. If your going to teach someone to drive, it's best to find a good motor insurance at whatever cost.

A year later, I finally passed the course, I am now a fully qualified driving instructor. All I need to do now is to change my car, advertise, find a good motor insurance and decide how much I should charge per hour lesson.

I decided that I should charge twenty pounds an hour per lesson, (as that seems to be the going rate), and a special offer of twenty lessons for the price of sixteen lessons if booked and paid for in advance. I then started to advertise by, placing an advertisement in the local paper, online, yellow pages and distributed leaflets in residential areas.

Within weeks, I was fully booked, working the hours that suits me and best of all, being my own boss.
