After starting and stopping many many times before I decided once and for all that at twenty seven it was about time I complete a driving lessons course that actually resulted in a pass!

I loved the feeling of freedom and independence that being behind a wheel gave me. The thrill and buzz of being part of the everyday hum on the roads. I'd always been quite a confident person and had never been one to feel nervous, or anticipate a crash happening tomelike you regularly hear about.

But, each time I'd started with good intentions, spending hours trawling those mock theory tests and dsa advice sites, embracing that familiar excitement that overwhelmedme in those five minutes before the instructor arrived, something always distracted me from carrying on and I never quite made it to that seemingly so far away sentence "that's a pass well done!"

So this was it... At twenty seven I'd had enough of not being a driver. Here I was, sat at work, lunch in one hand, mouse flying erraticallyover the dsa website in the other, brain contemplating how on earth I was going to pay for my new found eagerness for it... Wondering whether my car or my finances would be the first thing to crash over the next few months!

As salad slid out of my sandwich onto the keyboard, oblivious to my excitement and lack of enthusiasm for cleaning it up right now compared to my enthusiasm for the dsa site the radio started that familiar news jingle that unhappily reminds me lunch is over. As I half heartily listened to the news reporter he solemnly reported a road closure due to a serious crash down the road this morning, followed by news of a tail back due to a minor one on the other side of the town. Then he decided to tell me about the court case in which a dangerous driver had now been jailed due to causing a fatal accident. I glanced at the radio as if the express my disapproval of today's news report and quickly closed down my 'lunch time websites' making a mental note to myself that maybe that pass can wait just a tiny while longer!
