The county where I live is the worst in the south for traffic accident

The county where I live is the worst in the south for traffic accidents for young drivers. We have problems here with young drivers. It doesn't matter if they are in a classic car, a new truck, or a motorbike. We had one kill another one veering off the highway just enough to hit or and miss the car she was standing behind her dad was changing a flat and hit his teenagedaughter last year. It is constantly something going on around here with these kids. We've had several motorbike fatalities in the past year as well. They say it because of gas prices and it's cheaper for the young drivers to use them. It's unfortunately more dangerous for them too.

They take a young driver training course at school when they reach the right age. It used to be a free service, but I found out the other day it costs a lot of money now. I guess they think if the parents have to pay for it they will see to it they learn a thing or two. I don't think the person they use to teach is any different kind of teacher than they have been letting teach this course. The school already has the cars they need to help them safely learn to drive; its odd thinking that charging them upward of 200 or more dollars to learn this skill will help them learn to be any safer. I would think less young drivers will be able to take it in the first place; the cost will block them from the training. Sometimes I really think we should think of the end result and not the predicament we’re in.

Yesterday a young driver was riding his dad classic car through town and got stopped for not making a turn with his turn signal on. I found out today his light bulb was out. It's a busy highway at that caution light and it would be really easy to get rear ended there if a truck driver wasn't paying close attention.

His dad should have gone through all of the lights on his classic car before he ever let him into the driver’s seat. He was also driving without a licensed driver in the front seat, just his younger sister in the car and in the front seat without her seatbelt on. The parents found themselves with a hefty fine for that. They have a son that several years ago had a motorbike wreck on the freeway that left him partially paralyzed. It's sad they didn't learn from the first incident.

The county should set up a place to keep all the junk iron these kids leave in their wake. I don't know what the skip hire costs would be, but it would be worth it to set it right in the middle of the county seat for the parents to show these young drivers what happens when they don't follow the rules of the road.
